Anavar, the brand name for oxandrolone, is a synthetic anabolic-androgenic steroid. Scientists first developed it in the 1960s to promote weight gain after surgery, trauma, or infection. Medically, it still treats limited conditions. These include offsetting protein catabolism from prolonged corticosteroid use and relieving bone pain from osteoporosis. How Does It Work?
